Winter outages
A power station in a winter outage
It keeps the fridge, Wi‑Fi, lights and phones going for a few hours to about a day, by size. It won’t heat a room for long.
The basics, all on at once
Fridge 70 W averaged (EIA), modem and router 11 W (NRDC), four LED bulbs 34 W (Philips), phones about 10 W: 125 W in total.
| Station | 125 W basics |
|---|---|
| BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 | 1.8 h |
| Jackery Explorer 600 v2 | 4.4 h |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 | 7 h |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 7.3 h |
| Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 | 13.9 h |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus | 13.9 h |
| Anker SOLIX S5000 | 34.2 h |
Space heaters drain it fast
Space heaters draw 400–1,500 W (OCWR). That is about 3–12 times the basics above.
| Station | 1,500 W heater | 400 W heater |
|---|---|---|
| BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 | Output too low | 36 min |
| Jackery Explorer 600 v2 | Output too low | 1.4 h |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 | 35 min | 2.2 h |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 36 min | 2.3 h |
| Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 | 1.2 h | 4.3 h |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus | 1.2 h | 4.4 h |
| Anker SOLIX S5000 | 2.8 h | 10.7 h |
Safety: OCWR says to plug space heaters directly into a grounded wall outlet, never an extension cord or power strip, to keep them 3 feet from anything that can burn, and never to leave them unattended (OCWR). A station’s outlet is not a wall outlet; check your heater’s manual before trying one.
Warm a person, not a room: an electric blanket draws about 60–100 W (Penn State).
Cold limits
Five of the seven are rated to charge only at 32°F or above; two list no charging temperature. Listed running limits are 14°F or −4°F. Keep the station indoors.
| Station | Charges from | Runs down to |
|---|---|---|
| BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 | 32°F | −4°F |
| Jackery Explorer 600 v2 | not listed | −4°F |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 | 32°F | −4°F |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 32°F | 14°F |
| Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 | 32°F | 14°F |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus | 32°F | 14°F |

Food
A closed fridge keeps food safe up to 4 hours; a full freezer about 48, half full about 24 (FoodSafety.gov). Running the fridge in shifts stretches the battery: see the fridge guide.
CPAP users: see the CPAP guide.
No wiring into the house: that is a job for a licensed electrician.
Quick answers
Can a portable power station run a space heater?
Only briefly. Space heaters draw 400–1,500 W; at 1,500 W a 2,042 Wh Jackery 2000 v2 lasts about 1.2 h.
Can I charge a power station in the cold?
Five of the seven stations here are rated to charge only at 32°F or above; two list no charging temperature. Keep it indoors and charge it warm.
